At a time when Manchester City have dropped six points from the last 18 available, Chelsea are the form team in the competition, having won their last five games.
The last time these sides met, City triumphed over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final, but since then everything has changed.
Frank Lampard has replaced Mauricio Sarri and has overseen an enormous amount of progress in so little time. His emphasis on youth has seen the likes of Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori nail down starting berths and it has proved dividends with the Blues currently sitting in third – ahead of City in fourth.
Despite both sides’ form going into this, Chelsea are priced at a remarkable 36/5 on VBet with the best odds for a City win coming from Betfair at 2/5. A draw is also reasonable on VBet at 43/10.
It’s a game that could go either way, but Chelsea are bang in form at the minute and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Blues came away with a point or even three.
Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham are on fire for Chelsea with the duo involved in 19 goals for the club so far in 2019 and both have been given seriously good odds with Pulisic at 14/1 and Abraham 8/1 to be the first goalscorer on Unibet.
Meanwhile, City’s strikers Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are priced at 17/5 and 19/5 respectively on the same site, but with Aguero scoring nine to Jesus’ three, the Argentine may be a better bet as may Raheem Sterling at 21/5.
A 36/5 bet on Chelsea with VBet looks so appealing, and, with the Blues performing for Lampard, City could well find themselves even further away from Liverpool come 8 o’clock.
