Ireland start with an easy win for Centenary Quaich

Ireland goes into their first Six Nations game of 2020 as heavy favorites against Scotland.

The side is second-favourites to win the tournament with BetFred pricing them at 4/1, ahead of Wales.

They’ve won their last three against the Scots, including a 27-3 demolition during the Rugby World Cup.

It’ll take some turnaround for the Scots to win this one at the Aviva Stadium on February 1.

Irish Odds-On To Beat Scottish Rivals

The pair met just a few months ago, so it’s no surprise to see William Hill pricing the home side as 1/7 favorites.

The Scots are 11/2 for this one, and they will be seeking revenge, but Andy Farrell’s men will likely be too strong.

Johnny Sexton will, of course, be central to that and he is expected to be fit for the opener in a game where the result is only likely to go one way.

Ireland to win by 11-20 points in the opener

Paddy Power is offering nice odds of 11/4 for the Irish to win by 11-20 points, which could be well worth backing, particularly if Sexton starts.

The Scots won’t go down as heavily as the World Cup, so 11+ points seems a solid wager.

Scotland hasn’t had the best build-up to the opener, with Finn Russell being removed from the squad after breaking “team protocol”, which would suggest that enough togetherness to triumph isn’t quite there.

A solid first half for the Irish

Farrell’s men will expect to get going from the off and at EVS with Ladbrokes, a -7.0 handicap for the first half could be a sensible bet and good accumulator builder.

They’ll want to impress in front of a home crowd and we’d expect them to be at least the seven up by half time.

If you’d like to play it a little riskier, you could back a half time handicap of -12.5 with Paddy Power at 2/1 or -14.5 at 11/4 if you think it’s going to be yet another big defeat for the Scots.
