Conor McGregor is making his long-awaited return to the Octagon following a 15-month absence. That October 2018 fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov ended in defeat, but Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone poses a stepping stone for the Irishman to perhaps recover the UFC Lightweight title against Nurmagomedov later.

With just four losses to his UFC name, McGregor will go up against American Cerrone – who hasn’t won in two games and has lost 13 out of 49 career games.

McGregor is 1/2 to win the fight on Ladbrokes with Cerrone 11/4 on Marathon Bet, meaning that the Irishman is unlikely to get many punts.

Where the Fight Will Be Won

If McGregor can keep upright then his clever left hands and movement are likely to be too much for the battle-hardened Cerrone. The Irishman took a step back from the game following his defeat to Normagomedov back in October 2018, so it remains to be seen whether he will have the hunger and appetite for the fight against an opponent who has the most wins in UFC history at 36.

McGregor will do well to keep the fight off the floor because Cerrone is a Brazilian jiu jitsu expert with 17 submission victories to his name – McGregor has just one (and four losses).

The Irishman is 4/9 to win by TKO, KO, Submission or DQ on Bet365 whilst Cerrone to win by submission at 15/2 on Spread EX likely to influence some flutters. A 2/1 victory for either in the first round will bring in some anticipating a quick fight.
