Yes, Yes, Yes, Notorious – Our Top Poirier v McGregor UFC 257 Odds Picks

0

Conor McGregor may have had more retirements than we’ve had hot dinners over at Odds Manager, but there is no denying the star-power of “Notorious”.

The Irish superstar returns to the octagon in the early hours of Sunday morning, re-matching Dustin Poirier who he KO’d in 2014.

32-year-old Poirier has only lost twice since that night back at UFC 178 – to Michael Johnson (no, not that one) and the feared Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2019.

There’ll be plenty of eyes on the main event at UFC 257, but who will come away with the prize?

Scroll to read our top Odds Pick along with a 9/2 Extra Pick.

Our Top Odds Pick – Conor McGregor to win by KO/TKO in Round 1 or Round 2 – 8/11 at Paddy Power

“The Diamond” Poirier has often referred to his first fight with McGregor as a major turning point in his career.

McGregor walked through him inside the opening couple of minutes with a huge left hand proving the difference.

Now, we’re up at lightweight for this re-match, and there’s a growing consensus building that this extra power will play into the hands of McGregor.

McGregor is a heavy striker and has won 16 of his bouts inside the first round in destructive style.

We think there’s more chance of repeat than revenge on Sunday morning – McGregor is a born showman and will come out swinging.

Our Extra Pick – Conor McGregor to win by KO/TKO within the first 2 minutes of Round 1 – 9/2 at Paddy Power

Let’s spice things up a little.

We’re not satisfied with just the first-round KO.

The first meeting between these two ended in one-minute forty-six seconds in 2014 and we like the odds of a carbon copy seven years on.

Both times that Poirier has lost in the first-round via KO it has come before the start of the third minute.
