With less than a week until the biggest horse race on the calendar, we’re back with another ante-post fancy for the Grand National.
Having already sided with an Irish-trained horse in Burrows Saint, we’re once again eyeing up a raider from Ireland for the big one at Aintree.
Discorama – 20/1 at bet365
Trained by Paul Nolan, Discorama has been absent since a poor run at Cheltenham in November but he ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to looking for a Grand National contender.
He’s a strong stayer who jumps well and has some decent form in the book, plus he’s bagged himself a competitive-looking handicap mark for this year’s race.
The trip should prove no barrier, having placed 2nd in the 4 mile National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2019.
Chuck into the mix that he then ran 2nd behind this year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup 2nd – A Plus Tard – at Punchestown, and you begin to see why connections feel they have a solid chance.
Yes, he has an absence to overcome, but his form figures returning from a decent break read 1-1-2-2, showing that he’s a horse that runs well fresh.
Good ground should hold no fear either and at 20/1 he looks a cracking each-way bet with some bookies already offering 5 places for the big race.
