It’s day two of the Punchestown Festival and the top quality action just keeps on coming – the feature race on Wednesday is the Punchestown Gold Cup, which will see Al Boum Photo, Clan Des Obeaux, and Kemboy battling it out.
Chuck into the mix the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle and the Grade 1 Bumper with Sir Gerhard and Kilcruit going head-to-head again, and it’s set to be a cracking day for jumps fans.
Read on to see our top Odds Picks for day two that include a huge 40/1 fancy for owner JP McManus.
Our Top Odds Pick – Kemboy (17:55) – 4/1 at BetVictor
Kemboy landed this in 2019 with Ruby Walsh retiring immediately after the race and he looks set to go close once again.
He landed the fourth Grade 1 success of his career when winning the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown in February before finishing 9th in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
Back on home soil here, we’re expecting a bold bid from the front and he’s an excellent price to land another big one for connections.
Our Long Shot – Blazer (19:00) – 40/1 at Paddy Power
Blazer hasn’t won since 2017 but the handicapper is beginning to relent after some decent efforts last summer including a 4th at the Galway Festival and 3rd in a decent handicap chase at Killarney.
His last win was here at Punchestown and the drop back in trip here will suit, as will ground conditions.
He’s now 3lbs below his previous winning mark and with Simon Torrens and his 3lb claim booked, connections clearly mean business.
