After its absence in 2020 due to our old friend COVID, the Punchestown Festival is back with a bang on Tuesday.
The opening day sees some superb action in store, including Monkfish taking on Envoi Allen and Chacun Pour Soi facing Allaho.
Read on to see our top Odds Picks for Tuesday’s unmissable action including a juicy 20/1 fancy.
Our Top Odds Pick – Monkfish (18:30) – 11/10 at Unibet
This could well be the race of the week as Monkfish and Envoi Allen go head to head in the Champion Novice Chase over 3 miles.
After a fall at the Cheltenham Festival, Envoi Allen arrives here with questions to answer and he’ll also have stamina to prove as he steps up to this trip for the first time.
Monkfish is now a perfect four from four over fences following his success in the Brown Advisory Novices’ at Cheltenham – his third Grade 1 victory on the bounce.
With conditions very much to suit, we’re expecting Monkfish to add yet another Grade 1 success to his CV here in what should be a cracking race.
Our Long Shot – Cayd Boy (16:50) – 20/1 at Betfair
Cayd Boy kicked off this season with success in a 17-runner handicap at Down Royal before running 2nd in a Grade A contest at Fairyhouse.
He travelled well for a long way in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before fading up the hill.
We’re expecting a big run here dropping down in grade and dropping to a mark of 145 with jockey Simon Torrens also taking off a valuable 3lbs.
