The Kings are dead, long live the Kings….
Saturday saw Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic both beaten in the semi-finals at the ATP Finals, as the young guns Dominic Thiem and Daniil Medvedev blasted their way past the old guard.
Is this the beginning of the end for Novak and Rafa – probably not, but Sunday’s final will see a new name on the trophy.
Thiem and Medvedev have been in blistering form all week and the final looks set to be a classic – read on below to see our top Odds Picks for the big match.
Our Top Odds Pick – Dominic Thiem to win – 11/10 at 888sport
Both these players are in red-hot form currently, with Medvedev having won his last nine matches which includes victories over Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Thiem also overcame Novak and Rafael this week, becoming only the second player ever to record five wins against them and Roger Federer.
His backhand has been on fire this week, with the Austrian hitting winners from all over the place, and he’ll look to grind Medvedev down in what should be a tasty final.
Thiem has the game to beat Medvedev in what wouldn’t be an upset by ranking but an upset by the current odds, and at odds against, we’re more than happy to side with him.
Our Extra Odds Pick – Over 28.5 games – 9/5 at Unibet
We can see this going to three sets with not much to split these players this week, and we’re expecting at least one set to go to a tie-break.
At the odds, we’re happy to chuck a couple of pounds on over 28.5 games in the hope we get a gruelling final.
Our Long Shot – Dominic Thiem to win 2-1 – 15/4 at bet365
These players last met in the US Open semi-final where Thiem strolled through in straight sets en route to the title.
We don’t expect it to be so easy for the Austrian this time around, but having sided with Thiem and expecting a three-set marathon, it’s only right we also side with him taking this 2-1.
