The Grand National at Aintree may be on the horizon but all eyes will be on Fairyhouse on Monday for the Irish Grand National.
It’s the feature race on a cracking card that also brings us three Grade 2 contests including the Devenish Chase.
We’ve got our top Odds Picks on-site for a tasty afternoon of Irish action and hopefully we can kick-off Grand National week with a winner or two.
Our Top Odds Pick – Fakir D’Oudairies (16:20) – 11/8 at BetVictor
Fakir D’Oudairies was the bridesmaid once more last time out, running 2nd to Allaho in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
He’s now filled the runners-up spot on his last five completed starts but looks set to finally get his head in front here.
His last victory came over this course and distance in the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase back in December 2019 and a repeat of his Cheltenham performance should see him a class above this field.
Our Long Shot – Sempo (17:00) – 16/1 at bet365
With our original Long Shot selection The Big Dog now sadly a non-runner, we’re siding with the Joseph O’Brien trained Sempo.
He placed 6th behind Envoi Allen in the Cheltenham Festival Bumper in 2019 and 6th behind Monkfish in the Albert Barlett in 2020 before heading novice chasing.
Having unseated at the first fence in two of his first five chases, he put in an excellent performance last time out in the Grade 3 Flyingbolt Chase at Navan when a staying on 2nd behind stable companion Scarlet And Dove.
Yes, he’s taking a significant step up in trip here on handicap debut but his chase mark of 139 is 3lb lower than his hurdles mark and he looks set for a big run this afternoon.
