The flat is well and truly back, and Sandown has a cracking card on offer on Friday afternoon including a Group 2 and two Group 3 contests.
We’ve cast our expert eye over the card and you can check out our top Odds Picks below including a tasty 9/1 selection in the Classic Trial at 15:35.
Our Top Odds Pick – Highest Ground (14:25) – 5/2 at BetVictor
Sir Michael Stoute has won this race four times and he looks to have a cracking chance at landing it for a fifth time with Highest Ground.
Highest Ground saw off Waldkonig last season and then went down by a neck to Thunderous in the Dante at York with both reopposing here.
Having won on seasonal debut last year though, we know Highest Ground goes well fresh – this trip looks ideal and he’s certainly open to plenty more improvement as a four-year-old.
Our Long Shot – Sir Lucan (15:35) – 9/1 at bet365
Sir Lucan ran an excellent staying-on 4th in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh in September before getting off the mark over a mile at Cork.
The 2nd at Cork that day, Flying Visit, has since landed a Group 3, and there’s no reason to think that Sir Lucan shouldn’t be competitive in this sort of company.
The extra furlong here should be ideal and he looks primed to run a big race under Ryan Moore.
