French Open: Our Top Women’s Final Odds Picks

Say what you like about women’s tennis, but it’s certainly unpredictable.

And a perfect example of this, is the fact that the unseeded Iga Swiatek will face fourth seed Sofia Kenin in the French Open final.

Our Top Pick – Sofia Kenin to win 2-1 – 23/5 with 888sport

An intriguing clash is in prospect at Roland Garros.

Sofia Kenin and Iga Swiatek will both be competing in their very first French Open final.

However, while it’s no surprise to see fourth seed Kenin involved, few could have predicted her opponent.

But after Swiatek’s shock quarter final demolition of top seed Simona Halep, tennis fans have sat up and taken notice, and an equally dominant semi-final victory was less of a surprise.

The Pole has not dropped a set all tournament, and has yet to concede more than five games in a match.

However, she is in unchartered territory, having never advanced further than the fourth round in a Grand Slam.

She has previous at the French Open though, knocking out the 16th seed last year in her tournament debut.

As for Kenin, she will be high on confidence after a stellar 2020.

After winning the Australian Open in January, the American ace has the chance to become the first woman to win two Grand Slams in a season for four years.

And she’s also bidding to become the first American woman not named Serena Williams to win the Roland Garros title for 19 years.

The realisation of what she could achieve may well weigh heavy on Kenin’s shoulders, but the same could be said for her opponent, who finds herself one match away from the greatest moment of her career.

Kenin’s route to the final has by no means been straightforward, as she has been taken to three sets in all but two of her matches.

So the bookies are siding with Swiatek, installing her as a heavy favourite to win.

But just like trying a super-hot curry, it could turn out to be a silly, rather than inspired move, as you underestimate a Grand Slam winner at your peril!

So we’re not afraid to side with the underdog here.
