After a cold and wet weekend at the Nurburgring, Formula One returns to sunny Portugal for the first time in over 25 years.
It won’t all be seafood and fortified wine though, as there’s “The Rollercoaster” to deal with.
The Portimao track earned its nickname due to its undulating nature, and that, added to its unfamiliarity to most drivers, should make for an eventful race.
Our Odds Pick – Valtteri Bottas to Win – 4/1 at bet365
Lewis Hamilton stands on the verge of history after his 7th win of the season took him to 91 in total, level with Michael Schumacher at the top of the all-time F1 victory list.
Much like his relentless march to yet another F1 Championship, it’s a case of when, not if, he breaks the record.
And securing his ninth Pole Position of the season means that Hamilton is a heavy favourite going into this race.
This feels like a good week to oppose the World Champion, as he has never raced competitively at this circuit.
And we reckon the value lies with his teammate Valtteri Bottas.
Mercedes have once again looked head and shoulders above every other F1 team.
And the Finn out-performed Hamilton all weekend, losing pole only by the smallest of margins.
However, Bottas’ performance in qualifying will have given him confidence, and he will fancy his chances at a track that looks like providing numerous overtaking opportunities.
