Chester May Festival Day One – Odds Picks

The ITV Racing cameras are at Chester this week, kicking off on Wednesday with the Cheshire Oaks and the Chester Vase.

These two races offer up some excellent Epsom pointers with the Oaks and Derby on the horizon so make sure and tune in to what should be some cracking racing action.

To give you a hand, we’ve scoped out Chester’s Wednesday card and you can see our top Odds Picks below including a juicy 16/1 Aidan O’Brien fancy.

Our Top Odds Pick – Uncle Jumbo (15:45) – 3/1 at bet365

Uncle Jumbo to win the 15:45 at Chester

Uncle Jumbo was well supported in the market last time out before finding trouble in running to eventually place 4th of seven runners at Pontefract.

Despite being denied a clear run, he was still only beaten less than two lengths and compensation looks to be on the cards here.

He’s got the plum draw in stall 1 and with the yard amongst the winners in recent days, he looks primed to take all the beating.

Our Long Shot – La Joconde (14:15) – 16/1 at Betfair

La Joconde Each-Way in the 14:15 at Chester

This daughter of Frankel may still be a maiden after five runs but there was a lot to like about La Joconde’s run at Leopardstown last month where she showcased her stamina over this trip.

She went down by just half a length despite running green in patches and if Oisin Murphy can settle her better here, she looks to have an excellent chance of giving trainer Aidan O’Brien a record-equalling seventh winner of this race.
