It’s dark, it’s cold, we’re in lockdown… what a start to 2021.
The good news is that Chepstow have a cracking card on Saturday, that includes the Welsh Grand National – a sure-fire way to spice up your weekend.
With less than 70 days until the Cheltenham Festival, the racing scene is hotting up, so check out our top Odds Picks for the Chepstow action.
Our Top Odds Pick – Farrants Way (12:50 at Chepstow) – 7/2 at bet365
Farrants Way recorded an impressive debut victory over hurdles at Hereford in March before running an excellent 3rd in handicap company at Sandown at the start of December.
Storm Arising was 2nd that day and re-opposes here but, with a 2lb swing in the weights, Farrants Way looks to have an excellent chance.
Running off a light-weight in what’s likely to be attritional conditions, we can see him taking all the beating.
Our Long Shot – Christmas In April (15:10 at Chepstow) – 10/1 at BoyleSports
A festively named selection for the Welsh Grand National which is expected to be run on heavy ground – we can see this turning into a slogfest around Chepstow.
One thing that Christmas In April does have is stamina, he won the Devon and Sussex National’s this year, before being pulled up after being sent off favourite in the Midlands National.
He made a decent return to action at Fontwell last time out doing his best work in the closing stages – off a light-weight here, he should go very close.
